The Superheroes to the rescue!

This weekend was the annual costume party at our club and my grandsons brought their mom up to celebrate. Or should I say Deadpool and Captain Jack Sparrow brought the Black Widow?
Captain Jack was a bit overwhelmed by the haunted house but he soon recovered when he spotted the candy cauldron.
Deadpool was pretty spooky with that shrunken head.
After dinner was the "Let's see how much sugar you can pile on a shortbread ghost", otherwise known as cookie decorating time.
 It must have been delicious...
there were only a few crumbs left.
It looked as though Captain Jack was going to offer me a bite of his Peanut Butter cup but...
no such luck. It disappeared quicker than you could say, "Pretty please!"
This afternoon the Chicks showed off some of their FO's. Elaine made a hat for her granddaughter which turned out to be too big so she will make a smaller one and then have one for her daughter-in-law to match.
Kathleen gave her daughter her knitted hat so she started a new one for herself. A straight forward 1X1 ribbing will fold up onto a stockinette cap.
Cinzia picked up a crocheted scarf where her daughter, Elena left off. Now that school has started her girls don't have as much time to knit and crochet anymore.
Barbara created a little stash busting pattern to make a scarf which will look great with denim jeans.
Maureen was overjoyed to turn in her finished Mistake Stitch Scarf and added a cowl to the inventory too.
I thought Dorah's Mistake Stitch Scarf looked a lot like her favorite team colors.
She had to leave early tonight so she wouldn't miss a minute of the World Series.
Carole made a scarf for a friend using Martina Behm's pattern called Easy. She used a self-striping yarn from Zauberball. The colors are gorgeous.
Here is Carole's current project called Cushy Cowl, a pattern by our friend Karin.
Another lovely yarn by Zauberball is the one Beth is using for her September Circle cowl.
Last week Beth was concerned that the hat she was knitting was using up yarn more quickly than expected. Rather than run out and not having more of a matching dye lot she frogged it in favor of...
starting over in a smaller size.
Maureen's hat has pretty cables and she will soon be decreasing for the crown.
Last week I started the ZickZack scarf using a silk/cotton/acrylic blend yarn. The colors are blending nicely together.
Have a good Halloween and don't eat too much candy!

A Visit from The Ninja and His Brother the Power Ranger and Our Final Tally

This weekend my DD and the grands came for a visit in their Halloween costumes. Catwoman, the Ninja, and the red Power Ranger joined us for the annual Halloween Party where they were quite entertaining.
We had to keep breaking up the boys but they had some good moves! And this was before they had a ton of candy and cookies!!!
This afternoon my Chicks helped label everything for delivery to the homeless women veterans. Hopefully, we will be able to make the drop off next week. Arrangements still have to be verified.
Some last minute additions to the inventory were Kathleen's Reversible Stripes Scarf and...
her matching heathered hat and scarf.
Kathleen started a Boomerang Scarf for a future donation. She doesn't like working with fingering weight yarn but it's looking beautiful!
I finished Through the Woods which I was planning on keeping for myself. Unfortunately, I wasn't crazy about how it looked on me even though I was pleased with how it knitted up. In addition, I found the wool too itchy for my sensitive skin so I will be donating this lovely hood.
Elaine started a cowl using this pretty heathered rose colored yarn. The basket weave stitching is complimentary to this yarn and has nice stitch definition.
My evening Chicks finished labeling the last few items and then we categorized and photographed them.
There were cowls, hats, scarves, mittens,
socks, tote bags, and vests. We had a grand total of 84! There is really more if you count each of the mittens and socks and count matching sets individually. Great job ladies!
When the counting was done we picked up the needles and got to work. Carole started another cowl.
Beth started a pair of mittens.
And Dorah was going to make a cowl with these lovely colors. Unfortunately, the pattern called for bulky weight yarn and this was DK weight at best. On to Plan B.
I designed a cowl pattern which is almost finished. I will be writing up the directions and putting it up for sale on Ravelry soon.
First I need it to be test knitted and then I can post. I'll let you know when it's ready.

Catching Up and Halloween Dinosaurs

Maureen got that last skein of yarn she needed last week so she could finish the first sleeve on the Baby Sophisticate sweater.
Beth was nice enough to accept the challenge to finish knitting a sweater that someone else started but didn't live long enough to finish. It has her mumbling under her breath so I would say it's not going as smoothly as she had hoped.
The dinosaurs, I mean grandsons visited this past weekend so they could attend a local Halloween party that is Moose's favorite. Their mom made their costumes (it's great to be the kid of a fashion designer!) and Moose won "Most Creative Costume" at the party. He makes a fierce T-Rex!
Isn't this the cutest stegosaurus you ever saw?!
Because of the surprise snowstorm over the weekend, we had very few trick-or-treaters. Now I have a bowl full of Snickers and M&M's calling my name. I think I'll go for a walk so I can ignore them.

Happy Halloween!

We had a sunny afternoon for Halloween this year. The Collins family came up for a visit and a little trick or treating. Peter Pan came for a visit too!
Peter Pan is not a very cooperative camera subject.
Tinkerbell designed and made the costumes for Captain Hook, Peter Pan, and herself.
Princess Tigerlily and Mr. Smee took Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, and Peter Pan for brunch at Normanside Country Club.
After brunch we all went to the Halloween party where Moose, I mean Peter Pan, decorated his own cookies.
Then we all walked through the "Haunted House". Those are "eyeballs" floating in the punchbowl.
The nice witch gave us some good candy.
There was a pumpkin carving contest and these two were our favorites.

Peter Pan sat totally absorbed by the magician and his tricks.
And Peter Pan won the costume contest!
Now we're all resting up for round two when we go trick or treating in our neighborhood. Hope you have a ghoulishly good time!
