For a preemie and her father

I got a call just around Christmas time that a friend of a friend was helping a new family whose mother died in childbirth and now there’s a new father with a preemie infant, both totally unprepared to face the coming months, was there something the Chicks could do to help out? Knowing the generosity of my Chicks, we all got to work to make some clothing to show the father and his new daughter that we are praying for them and hoping we can ease their burden a bit by making sure they have items to wear.
Carole started off with a sweet little hat of self-patterning yarn and…
A pair of matching baby mitts.
Janna showed us the picture of what the dress she’s making will look like.
And in the lower left corner you can see her progress on the lilac dress.
Carole made the 1898 hat for the father….
And Cinzia is making a dress for when she’s a little older.
Barbara B. made a sweet lace cardigan and fuzzy pink hat.
And Maureen made the Bankhead hat for the father and the Beloved bonnet for the baby.
Dorah made a warm, cozy blanket called Prairie Blanket.
And more from Barbara B.
I contributed a woven scarf for the father and another Beloved bonnet with a matching neck warmer for baby. We didn’t make preemie sizes because she probably won’t be going out much as soon as she’s released from NICU and by the time she needs warm clothing, she’ll fit into what we’ve made.
And you may have noticed that we’re back to “Zooming” again. With the cases of COVID spreading like wildfire, I thought it was wise to stay safely at home. We’ll be zooming about once a month until it’s safe to get together again. In the meantime, keep those needles clicking!
