On Saturday, September 20th DH and I went to the annual Glens Falls Hot Air Balloon Festival. It was a perfect day for a festival.
One kind lady let us take a look inside the basket and even offered to take us for a ride, but since I have a fear of heights and I'm not too crazy about not having some sense of control over the ride, I decided to pass on the offer.
This inside view of the basket was fascinating but not enough to convince me to climb in.
The crew members must have to be pretty strong to be able to hold down a balloon of this size. This poor guy was actually yanked around a bit before he let go of the line.
I can't decide if I like this "monster" balloon. It's not your traditional looking balloon.
This one is cute.
It was exciting to hear the roaring whoosh of the propane fueled flames as they heated the air inside the balloon.
These four seemed to be racing to see who could get airborn first.
As each balloon began to rise, the crowd cheered and applauded their ascent. The airport terminal piped music across the tarmac to accompany the excitement on the field. This one rose to the musical background of Ravel's "Bolero". It was quite emotional.
At one point there were over 40 balloons floating eastward, filling the sky with color and excitement. The Fifth Dimension's "Up, Up and Away" played to this spectacular view.On our way back to the car we watched the sun cap off the end of a perfect day.

Hi Jody,
Beautiful pictures! You must fly next time, or at least take a thethered ride. you have no sence of motion and if you don't look over the basket you will be fine.
Elaine
