Great weather is finally here!

Carole, Maureen, Barbara K. and B. Liz, and Dorah joined me on the deck for a lovely afternoon of knit and chat. September has ushered in cooler nights so the days of no humidity are lovely.

Last week you saw my Raven DK hat was almost finished. Well, here she is all ready to be put into inventory. It was an easy to memorize pattern and I messed around with the cuff by making it double thickness. It started with a provisional cast on, knit 1X1 ribbing for 3 inches, then fold the fabric with the provisional cast on to the inside and knit the live stitch on the needle together with the corresponding stitch from the provisional cast on.

Since I had enough yarn left to make another project, I decided to make a matching cowl but with a regular cable cast on edge.

Carole finished those adorable baby socks and they match perfectly. That's one of the perks of knitting two at a time on magic loop and starting the self striping yarns at the same exact color change. Now she's making a matching hat.

We were all talking and knitting away when it suddenly occurred to Carole that she better stop and measure the hat before it gets too long. Whew! Just the right size!

Dorah casted on (or cast on, not sure which is grammatically correct) for a cozy hat. It will have a ribbed cuff and stockinette crown.

Liz finished the other hat and started another. 

Barbara B.'s sweater is still in time out but she's making a beautiful sock with 

a defined slip stitch design.

Maureen's baby sweater has the sleeve stitches waiting while she knits the body. 

Barbara K. finished the small circumference of the Squishie hat with her double pointed needles.

 Next week we celebrate our 16th anniversary with a luncheon on the deck. Hope the weather is as beautiful as it was today. Until then, keep those needles clicking!

Humidity drove us back in

I tried sitting on the deck before the Chicks arrived and soon discovered that the humidity made it feel like breathing sponge! I'm glad I walked early enough in the day so I wasn't affected.

We had a pretty full house today.

Carole brought in the hat and cowl she has been working on for the last few weeks. The Honey Cowl was made with Berroco Vintage yarn. I didn't catch the yarn she used for the Meshy Squishy Toque.

She started a pair of baby socks using this self striping yarn.

this is what they will look like when finished. Adorable!

Janna's Totally Biased Cowl is getting close to the finish line. And she brought a lovely wooden yarn bowl to contain her stash.

Debbie's striped hat is almost finished too. It looks so collegiate!

Maureen worked on her Noro Striped Scarf. She's using two balls of the same color changing yarn but from different parts of the skein so the colors contrast each other.

Barbara B. showed us the sweater Flax which she is making for herself. The discussion turned to the subject of projects we've started and not finished. I thought I was bad with two shawls sitting in timeout since 2018. I think Dorah and Cinzia beat me by many more years.:)

Cinzia made the pattern for this scarf using fingering weight yarn for a pretty diagonal lace.

Margaret is still working on her Sightseer Cowl. She doesn't have much time during the week to work on knitting so she has to make up for it on Tuesdays.

Liz started a hat this week on big needles. This shouldn't take long at all.

And I made an oopsie this week! I tried making the 1898 hat and used a size 6 needle instead of 7 (I really shouldn't try to rely on my memory) and ran out of yarn before I could finish.

On to Plan B! Make it a pony tail hat!

Outdoor knitting

It was a warm one today but the humidity didn't kick in until everyone had gone home.

Liz made a lot of progress on her cowl.

Carole worked on a beautiful royal blue hat.

It's called the Meshy Squishy Toque.

Jan worked on her Irma hat. She had to hurry home before the thunderstorms so she could comfort her poor pup who is terrified of storms. There was one predicted to hit right around the time she would get home.

Maureen took two identical skeins of Noro yarn but started one ball from the outside of the skein, and the other from the inside to make the Noro Striped Scarf, an oldy but goody.

Barbara B. worked on a shawl for herself called Anisah that has cables running all the way up the edge.

Janna made good progress on her Totally Biased cowl. The colors are changing in the most perfect way.

I'm working on a shawl for myself in between charity knitting. This is called the Cheri Chevron Shawl. I'm using a mohair and a sock yarn and I love how it looks.

Knitting brings us such joy and we all feel as though it helped us get through the toughest times in life. I hope you feel this way too. Keep those needles clicking and look for us next week.
